You can use Form 1040EZ (PDF) when claiming the earned income credit only if you do not have a qualifying child.
For example: Form 1040EZ. If you file Form 1040EZ, your investment income is the total of the
amount on line 2 and the amount of any tax-exempt interest you wrote to the right of the words “ Form 1040EZ” on line 2. Note; For 2010, your investment income must be $3,100 or less.
